Our inspiring and experienced team of teachers lead structured music sessions in nurseries, pre-schools, toddler groups and infant schools linked closely to the National Curriculum. Music sessions supported by lesson plans and are structured for 35 minutes. We are always happy to discuss individual requirements and work with each setting, complimenting existing projects with a musical theme.
What do we do?
It is important that children have fun with music and the learning naturally follows. A secure environment and stimulating activities are all designed to encourage children’s social development such as confidence building, sharing and listening, and of course musical skills. We use a variety of percussion or other instruments at each session, and props and puppets used in an imaginative way to support the learning process.
What do we teach?
Our Music Education Programme has expertly written lesson plans with each key developmental and educational stage carefully considered.
The lesson plans address the keys areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFSF):-

- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts
The Schools Music Programme relates to the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum:-
- To use voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes
- Play tuned and untuned instruments musically
- Listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music
- Experiment with, create, select and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music
What do we use?
Your Salt Box Music Teacher will arrive with a big basket of percussion, puppets and props!
At Salt Box Music we ensure that children will experience hands-on use of our varied range of percussion instruments at every session. We use an imaginative array of musical games, largely involving singing, in order to stimulate the child’s imagination and advance the learning process.
Children will have great fun meeting Floaty the Fairy and Choppy the Karate Kid who like very different types of music. This session focuses on listening skills and music texture but in a uniquely visual way! They will also enjoy the giant shakers that are The Dotty Dinosaurs who are used to teach rhythm in an entertaining and creative way. As the learning develops we introduce more complex skills and different characters – our repertoire is vast!
Children express themselves physically through music, listening to every genre of music from all over the world from Classical to Jazz, World to Rock.
